only unit with n america And europe.saved 150 dollar purchase of europe download - worked perfectly in italy tho not too many poi's there
So far there is no GPS that has a world wide basemap, only North America and Europe. I mainly got this for Europe, and am not there yet. I was hoping it would work in Central America also, but it apprears to stop in Mexico.
Also purchase a hard/rigid case for protecting the screen as that's how I lost my old unit. The 770 is not Garmin's latest model but for me the added features are mostly frills.Pros:- Can get new for fraction of the cost of latest equivalent Nuvi model- Easy to carry for walking around (handy if you like to explore)- Pre-loaded Europe maps are convenientCons:- Need to use the window mount for car charger (didn't notice this at first)The 770 got the job done for me on recent trips to France & Switzerland, but as with all GPS units look over the routes before mindlessly following directions because none of them are perfect. As an frequent traveler and avid driver, a portable GPS has become an essential part of my travel kit. I replaced my Magellen with the 770 recently.
Turn notices are announced too late.Map orientation frequently gets reversed (towns/cities that are actually to your southeast will show up are being to your northwest).
The unit would lose it satelite connection and just stop working in middle of heavy traffic in Paris. Several glithes with the maps and satelite connection. Blue tooth worked well , graphics decent, camera alert and speed limit is very helpful. Used the Garmin 760 in Netherlands, Belgium and France. Overall satisfied with the unit but not impressed.
